TYKE TALKS was developed for many reasons:
Many times in emergency, families will wait for hours to be seen by the doctor, only to have medical professionals do something that could have been done hours earlier, at home. This is frustrating for everyone involved. Other times, patients arrive to hospital to receive measures that could or should have been introduced earlier to prevent complications & improve patient comfort. Many people express a lack of confidence in knowing whether or not they should seek medical assistance and what they can and should do prior to doing so. Most first aid and CPR courses deal only with acute problems and don’t address medical management of illness or minor injury. Many problems can be safely treated at home. Guidance about what to watch for and when to seek help is the focus of the PEDIATRIC MEDICAL HEALTH CARE class.
